How does Ovira's period pain relief device work?

Customer Care team Updated by Customer Care team

Our period pain relief device is a TENS device designed specifically to provide instantaneous, symptomatic relief from menstrual pain. TENS technology — that’s Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation if you want to get fancy — works by interrupting pain signals transmitted to the brain by your nerves.

When using our device for your menstrual pain, the two compression pads (what we call the 'Love Handles') will transmit a gentle electrical current through your skin to the nerves supplying the uterine area — these may be found in the lower abdomen and/or lower back regions. As the pain signals are interrupted by the current, your muscles relax and you feel instant relief. 😌

An electrical current sounds scary, will it hurt? Don't worry, our device doesn't hurt! It feels like a gentle pulsing or tingling sensation. You can adjust the intensity using the up/down buttons on the device. The best description we've heard about the pulses is that it feels like a phone buzzing in your pocket!
